Hey Vicki!

So nice to hear from you!! I'm sorry you're feeling so bad - the good news is, you can find out what causing your symptoms and you should be able to start feeling better soon!

Regarding testing, I would really recommend you go to a Doctor for testing (a progressive Dr that believes in prevention, nutrition and holistic healing) - for one thing, you really need to rule out Celiac disease as a possibility (celiacs don't tolerate dairy until they eliminate gluten) and then there are a whole slew of things that could be going on to cause your symptoms - vitamin deficiency, candida (yeast) in the intestines, hormone deficiency, Chron's, just to name a few. A Dr who knows about this can quickly rule a bunch of stuff out or zero in on the problem. That being said there is a home test that is supposedly very accurate and the only place you can get it now is in Canada :) Go here for a ton of awesome info.

If you really think it's gluten, a quick self-test is to just cut out all gluten/wheat products from your diet for one week (wheat-free does not necessarily mean gluten-free) - cut out all breads, pasta, anything batter dipped or thickened with flour - also note that oats, rye and barley are no-nos (soy sauce and a lot of blue cheese products are also bad) -there's a whole list on the site I gave you above. Cut out gluten for a week and see how you feel - when I did that 8 years ago it was like I was a new person! If gluten is your problem, you will feel 90% better in just 3-5 days. If that is the case, you'll have to go back to eating the bad stuff before you go in for testing- otherwise it can be difficult to detect in a test and could result in a false negative.

Feel free to ask me anything you want, I'm so happy to help you with this - best wishes and feel better soon!

Love & hugs,
Lee

an e-mail from my amazing friend Vicki:

Hey Lee!

I just opened linkedin and saw your page! I am now wondering about myself. For the past couple of years my allergies to things have gotten stronger. I have never had a test however I know I'm allergic to dairy products...just figured that one out.

The thing that caught my eye was the fact that you were always so tired. I'm always feeling very drained and on weekends always have one or two naps during the day. I've seen me fall asleep during weeknights very early...as early as 8pm! On top of feeling exhausted I'm always feeling somewhat bloaty. I'm just wondering if there is a site that a person can go on to to take a "test" to see if I am allergic to gluten. Certainly sounds like it to me!

Anyway I am going to bookmark your site and going to visit other sites. In the meantime if you know of any sites with how to find out if I am allergic that would be greatly appreciated. Mind you, maybe you have them on your blog and I haven't seen them yet!

I hope life is treating you very well!

Take good care,
Vicki :-)

Maybe semantics, maybe not... but it really doesn't matter -the bottom line is everything, good or bad, teaches us something and like you said, makes us who we are right now -how the good or bad things got here is up to each of us and what resonates.

Thanks for the compliment on my blog! Love you, too!

You are so right, Dana! It's about knowing that we are where we need to be in this very moment - easy or difficult, this moment is pivotal in our personal growth, it's as much a part of who we are as the shape and color of our eyes. I agree, we do need to take the time after the challenges to reflect, honor and acknowledge the lessons, as you say -too often we just want to move on and forget.

I like this from Song Chengxian:
"Forgive yourself for any mistakes you have made
in the past, knowing that you are no longer what
you were in the past. Every moment, there is a
new you born and you are living in this present
moment with a new you."

So many challenges! I think we all encounter daily challenges. Mine have included starting a business, downsizing a business, divorce - I'm sure there are more. I've learned that even in the heart of challenge, there are so many lessons to learn. The best time to appreciate these challenges are after - taking the time to reflect, honor and acknowledge the lessons they bring us. It's often difficult to see the lessons in the heart of it, but they are always there. They evolve us, push us, and make us who we are.

Yes, I believe that what you are saying that the current situation of anyone's life is perfectly as it is, just as I am a perfect Linda Catherine Ann Schank McGinnis Mortensen. Who I am now comes from who I was before, even a minute ago.

Along those lines, I believe that the antagonists in our lives come from who we were before, even a minute ago...that we are currently a product of our past thoughts and behaviors. Each of us can choose to learn from the current antagonists and move on, or not.

I don't believe antagonists are 'put' in our lives to teach us lessons because that means to me that someone/something outside of ourselves 'gave' us lessons to learn. I believe that we have created them in one way or another.

Do you think we are talking about a semantic difference, or a true difference in philosophy.

Yours is definitely an excellent blog. Very thoughtful. I love you, M

Thank you so much, Lee. I think what you are doing is great also. Many people are faced with challenges, including overcoming issues from our childhood like bullying, that a life coach can help with. I know you will be a great coach, because you know how to turn challenges into solutions.

Wow Lee! I'm impressed! Your blog looks absolutely wonderful!!! I am so sorry that it has taken so long to go to your blog or to respond when you left your comment a month ago. I can't believe how fast time moves. I loved all the additional things that you added like the color quiz etc;, Airbonne etc; I never thought about doing that there before. But it is perfect. I also thing that it is great that you added a link from your website to your blog! Excellent idea! Your ability to do these type of things are going to greatly help in carrying you far as a coach. I am so glad that you are finding my coaching helpful! And I am so glad that we have met and I really want to keep in touch with each other even after we completed our coaching arrangement and after we have graduated from ICA! Lots to do, got to go but had to let you know how pleased I am for you and how impressed I am with your blog! I am going to blog roll you today as well! Love you - Cindy

You get it! We are taught to be "self-less" and it serves no one, especially not ourselves... it takes guts, but being self-ful (or selfish) ends up being the best thing we could ever do for everyone in our lives -the ones that don't agree need to go! :)
